escolas_bilnguesFrontier Schools has been extended to other Mercosur’s countries.

The Frontier Bilingual Schools Project will be extended to other Mercosur’s countries. The   expansion   was  defined   during   the   XXXI   Educational   Ministers  Meeting of  Mercosur, in Belo Horizonte. The initiative promotes the integration of Educational Mercosur with the implementation of bilingual education in primary school, focused on public school students. In March, there will be a technical meeting for the preparation of this project.

Initially, the project would involve the schools in the frontier region between Brazil and Argentina. With the expansion, the schools and the Ministries of Education, member countries of Mercosur will have the opportunity to experience the integration of different cultures from learning the language of the neighboring country.

In the scope of Basic Education, the Ministers of Education also announced the creation of a committee to discuss the production of educational material on human rights in the Educational Mercosur. The measure attends the first objective set in the Action Plan 2006-2010, which intend to contribute with the regional integration of countries, establishing and taking educational policies that promote a regional citizenship, a culture of peace and respect for democracy, human rights and the environment.
